Overflowing gutters, damp below the eaves and damage at the roof edge are worth describing as separate symptoms, especially if they happen together.
Understand the route of the water
Tell us where water spills, where the downpipe discharges and whether the gutter is shared with a neighbour. On extensions, include any higher roof that drains onto the affected section.
Access and materials
Mention conservatories, porches, narrow passages or any awkward side access. If you want the new roofline to match existing fascias or gutters, include the colour and profile if known.
